Beautification of public and private spaces contributes to the economic health of the community including that of local businesses, benefits home values, improves air quality, and enhances the well-being of the surrounding community. Many partners from throughout the community – businesses, schools, churches, and others – have joined BC7RC in its beautification programs.

BC7RC’s beautification initiatives originated with the Bailey’s Beautification Alliance (BBA) in 1999, to help the community envision and create better community spaces in the local area. BBA made significant contributions to the overall attractiveness and enjoyment of Bailey’s Park, Woodrow Wilson Library, and to the Culmore area within the Bailey’s revitalization area. BBA received a special recognition award from the Fairfax County Park Authority for its work in Bailey’s Park.

BC7RC supports a number of community beautification projects such as clean ups and the installation of plantings. In 2014, BC7RC won a Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program (NEPP) grant from Fairfax County to build a more cohesive community in the Seven Corners area by hosting a series of informed breakfast meetings with networking opportunities.  Additionally, BC7RC partnered with area businesses, residents, and volunteers to beautify the grounds of the Willston Multicultural Center by planting perennials.

BC7RC has also participated in VDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway program since 2012, and is responsible for periodically cleaning-up a stretch of Route 7 and Patrick Henry Drive in the Seven Corners area. Adopt-a-Highway clean-ups are conducted [insert frequency] and new volunteers are always welcome to join. Contact BC7RC’s Beautification Committee Chair [insert contact person and hyperlink to contact information] to sign-up or to find out more about it.

Finally, BC7RC participates in a biannual clean-up day in Culmore. Bailey’s area students and residents have volunteered in the past to make our community shine and to foster a sense of pride and community solidarity. The Culmore Cleanup’s motto is Working Together to Change Our World.
